Judge Main Page

~ Welcome Trailside Elementary Judges ~

Judges need to be at TSES Thursday, February 1st beginning at 8:00am.  There will be a light breakfast served from 8:00am until 8:45am.  Training begins at 8:15am, and judging begins at 8:45am.  Those judging K-3rd grade projects, we anticipate will be finished before noon.  Those judging 4th-5th grade projects, we ask that you stay until we finish (sometime before 1pm).

Thank you for choosing to make a difference in our children’s future!!

4th and 5th graders are expected to produce upper level projects, with qualifying 5th graders moving on to District competition, Salt Lake Valley competition and Nationals.  4th graders need to understand what they will be judged on next year and therefore are being judged under the same criteria.  Only strong projects will advance to the next level (District).  Students are allowed to make changes to their project before the city wide competition, so your feedback can be of assistance in them getting a winning grade at the next level.

K through 3rd grade

Kindergarten through 3rd grades are also required to follow a rubric, but at a much different level of understanding.  We want to encourage their enthusiasm for science and engineering projects at this level above all else, whether they are technically-minded or not.
